CHITWAN: The construction work of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur, Chitwan is progressing. Santosh Acharya, chief of the Urban Infrastructure Division of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, informed that the blasting of the stone ceiling under the parapet is going on.

The local materials used in the construction are being tested in the laboratory of the Metropolitan Municipality, while the rod has been sent to Kathmandu for laboratory testing. He said that the technicians and employees of the construction company have started working in the field. ”

Bharatpur Metropolitan City has taken forward the work of the cricket stadium in collaboration with the state and central governments. According to the Deputy Director of the Metropolitan Municipality, Engineer Jagannath Aryal, the ground will be prepared with a parapet to accommodate 10,000 spectators. According to the report, the cost of the construction of the stadium is Rs 75.50 lakh 91,189. Construction is scheduled to be completed by September 22, 2013.

In the current fiscal year, the federal government has allocated Rs 25 crore and Bharatpur Metropolitan City has allocated Rs 48 million. The Bagmati Province government has agreed to bear 70 percent of the total contract amount.

The Dhurmus Suntali Foundation, which initially started the construction of the stadium, has prepared a parapet to accommodate 5,000 people. Two hundred and eighty-six pillars have been erected for it.
